Member of society (pt.1) : Who to be blamed?

Yu is an engineering graduate. Yu just started to work last year as a trainee. As a trainee, no real job description outlined for her. She has to do whatever the superior asked her to; mostly administration tasks. Also, at the same she's responsible to conduct a workshop program which supposedly handled by a manager. She used to complain that the work given is not appropriate as a long-term job as an engineer especially when the salary given is low. She thinks that the current progress is not essential for her career development. When one of her colleagues resigned because of internal problem, the company decided to revise graduates' salary rate and promised that they will send the graduates to the site get exposure. The graduates were satisfied with the condition. After 6 months, Yu is still waiting for her turn to go to the site. The Company give her excuses why she can't work at at the site. E.g. Permit problem because the site is at oversea country and because is a graduate. After a while, she gets to know that two of her close office buddies are going to work at the site for few months. Something's not right. She can just start complaining again but Yu believes that the company will just give her excuses.

So, who to blame?

1) Yu - for not working hard enough to learn as much as she can and keep waiting for the company to come out with something for her / waiting for someone to guide her.

2) Mr. Samwise (not real name) : Yu's boss. Not really a wise man. Always assign ridiculous and unimportant things to his subordinates. Nobody understands him. - Samwise promises to Yu that he will push the company to send Yu to the site so that she will learn more. Yu has the feeling that Mr. S is not doing what he promised. He's trying to keep her in the office so that she can take over works that were left undone because of lack of resources.

3) Mr. Aslan (not real name) : he's responsible for graduate program. An interpreter between the graduates and the company. - Yu does not want to blame him because he's trying to persuade the company to send the graduates to the site. Plus, to have only two staffs in his division, he's struglling to manage training programs for the whole company. However, Yu thinks that Mr. Aslan owes her a real explanation instead of telling her the company's excuses.

4) The company : a big one. Few offices in the oversea countries. Uncountable overpaid expatriates working for the company but has high turnover rate in resources. [they never thought that a big company has huge hole of management system and the high management is very unsupportive towards staff welfare activies. In other term, stingy. Only the share holders and high management people earn the profit. Cih! - the company is not to be blamed but the top management. They should have not organize the graduate program if they are not ready. The graduates are not lab rats.

What Yu should do:
1) do nothing
2) write to Mr. Aslan asking him to explain
3) push the company to send her to site
4) transfer to other department
5) apply for a new job
